Post-Graduate Diaries: The College to Career Rebrand

Dear Fellow Post-Graduates and Readers,

Let’s talk about the post-college identity crisis, it’s not talked about enough and often gets brushed aside as we’re all trying desperately to live our ideal adult lives.

Similar to high school, in college it’s easy to identify yourself as an athlete, robotics team member, or president of the theater club, name your niche. For me, it was the Honors Program, sorority sister (shoutout to my ΔΦΕ ladies!), and “queen” of a social group on campus. Come my graduation in May 2022, that wasn’t me anymore, or at least, it certainly felt like those aspects of me were things I had to move on from.

Post-Graduate Diaries: Moving to a New City

Dear Post Graduates,

If you’re anything like me, after four years of college escapades, the number one item on my to-do list was to move away from home. I wanted to do this for a few reasons. I knew I didn’t want to live in my hometown forever, and as I was starting out on my career journey, moving somewhere a little bigger with more job opportunities and lots of things to do was exciting.

Some people when they go out on their own after college, move cross country. When I was deciding on where to move, I knew I wanted to stay in Wisconsin, I just needed a bigger city with more to do and security in knowing I’d likely not run into any old classmates or teachers. Based on the size I was looking for, I my options were Milwaukee or Madison, each about an hour and a half drive from my hometown. This was the perfect distance for me because it’s close enough where I could still visit my family and friends but far enough away where I still got the sense of trying something new for myself. Both cities met my criteria, I had visited both multiple times and knew they both would have worked for what I was looking for. In the end, I ended up moving to Milwaukee.

Semester at Sea: My Experience, Advice, Pros + Cons

If you aren’t familiar, Semester at Sea is a four month long water vessel voyage, allowing it’s passengers to visit a number of places around the world in a pretty short period of time. A major part of what drew me to the program was the fact I could take classes on board and continue to learn the topics I’m most interested in. So, four months after graduation day, my bags were packed and I flew to Amsterdam with family to board the ship for a journey of a lifetime. If you yourself are curious about the program or wondering if you should do it, this blog is for you.

A Week on Mackinac Island

If you haven’t heard of Mackinac Island, the best way to describe it would be a perfect summer getaway spot littered with beautiful bed and breakfasts and colorful flowers surrounded by transparent blue water. There are no cars allowed on the island (only walking, biking, and carriages) but you really don’t need one, everything is easily walk able and there are lots of bike rental places to choose from.

Ranking All the Fudge on Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island is famous for a lot of things, but most importantly, it’s known for its fudge.
